Cheek’d is a NY-based start-up founded in 2010 by Lori Cheek that proudly inverts the traditional online dating model in a way that’s, well, “cheeky.” Subscribers to the service fill out an online profile and are then issued a set of old-school business cards adorned with provocatively flirtatious slogans such as “my dog likes your dog,” “don’t overthink this,” and “feel free to stalk me.” If the party receiving the card in a real-world venue wants to take matters further, he or she can log on to the cheekd.com site to get more data on their mysterious suitors and send a suitable reply.
We’re glad we caught up with Lori early; she was the first NY Tech Day exhibitor we spoke to. A couple of hours later, the Cheek’d booth was so completely mobbed with people seeking more information on the Cheek’d service that it was impossible to get close.
