July 14, 2015: When I started working at SEMrush earlier this year, I had a positive reputation for content management and SEO copy writing in my niche. With little recognition in the digital marketing industry, I needed to form connections quickly and establish my own voice in the field. Participating in Twitter chats has been integral to my growth as a digital marketer.
Hanging out on Twitter is as natural as chatting about a fun topic. There’s no major time commitment and it’s a great way to immerse myself in the zeitgeist of my industry without leaving the office. Plus, I found helpful digital marketing tools and some of the best writers who have appeared on the blogs I manage.

- Time: Thursdays, 4 PM ET
- Focus: The focus in #cochat is content marketing, content writing, organization and social media marketing.
- About the Host: CoSchedule is a digital marketing tool that functions as a drag-and-drop editorial calendar (integrated with WordPress and Evernote) as well as a social media scheduler for you and your editorial team.
- Crowd: #cochat draws a really friendly and supportive crowd. The chat leader always starts by asking everyone to introduce themselves. It’s a great place for beginner or intermediate users to ask questions or look for digital marketing solutions. The #cochat staff sets a friendly, helpful tone, often replying to participants to acknowledge pain points, solutions and successes.

- Focus: #bufferchat focuses on social media, productivity, creativity and personal branding. (Personal note: I love blogging after #bufferchat because I always feel so inspired by the discussions.)bout the Host: Buffer is a tool that allows you to comprehensively schedule social media across a variety of networks.
- Crowd: Buffer draws a friendly crowd, but has a professional edge focusing on analytics, drawing chat participants to respond accordingly:

- About the Host: SEMrush is a competitive intelligence tool that allows you to uncover the most cost effective keywords for PPC ads and content topics – plus, you can figure out where your competitors are spending their ad dollars.
- Crowd: Since #semrushchat focuses on a variety of digital marketing topics, the vibe of the crowd changes a bit depending on the topic. You can count on finding noted industry leaders and data-driven professionals here. Due to the high volume of participants, it’s a great way to grow your network. Spend 30-60 minutes combing through the hashtag afterwards to find new connections.
